Post show responses have been great and have been making me ponder ‘Lets make Muscat a happening place’

A brief about it – It all began in February when I got in touch with his Business Manager and found out his available dates and charges. I then started hunting venues. Once that got finalized the next step was to get the presentation docket ready for sponsorships.

I worked backwards and did follow the time lines that I had set. After getting about half the show covered through sponsorships my next step was concentrating on ticket sales.

I had a long way to go to even break even. I had just sold about 200 tickets 1 day before the show and on the day – WHAT A RESPONSE. We sold about 270 tickets at the gate, 100 tickets the morning of the show and 150 were given out as invites to sponsors.

So overlooking an audience of 700+ does give a high to the performer and the organizer! Although Aqeel has performed in front of a much huger audience, seeing this response in Muscat was definitely a killer!

I’ve had to go through a number of hitches throughout but I never for once thought of giving up and not doing the show. I was positive from within.

Yeah…the Question is what next???? To which I ponder – Continue the parties for the 18 to 35 crowd in Oman. We don’t have much to do!

The Twestival happened in style – on board the Hormuz ferry that took us around the Muscat / Qurum shoreline.

It was a privilege that I was contacted as to source gifts for all the tweeps on board.

I got Kahwa pots with the twitter bird screen printed on it along with a date chocolate and hersheys inside and wrapped with golden net.

The idea was to match Omani hospitality and something which people will consume and keep it as a memento. The chocolates of course would get consumed and the kahwa glass could be on a work desk or somewhere at home.

What did I do!

Apart from helping as a part of team for a few days I also made some JAI HO Tees to sell. Also Indian flags…
I had some ushers go around and sell the tees and they did a great job.
Cost was just RO 2/- and anyone who came there wanted to take it as a memento!

A new year bash done by me and a friend Yesha was held at Mumtaz Mahal lawns and banquets.
Costa Coffee was like our mini office for brainstorming, ticket cutting, lamination, etc etc.
I even remember going to a bunch of girls on the other table and talking to them confidently about the party. At that time the only way we were promoting the event was social media and e mailers / bulk sms’s. There were no ads or posters or leaflets.

The New Years Eve saw a varied mix of couples, families, youngsters and was a total fun fiesta.

A great deal for new years – RO 15 only inclusive of buffet dinner and one free drink. Most new year parties in town were at RO 20 and beyond..

The response was great at the gate and about 100 tickets were sold. Prior to that we already had sold about 300.

The DJ had flown down from Mumbai and made the crowds sway till 3 am.

After a lot of names – Storm, Ethnika, Zing, Lime the name FEVER was born….

It's the time to Disco!

National Association of Cancer Awareness had given me an assignment of sourcing caps for the Cancer Walk. They wanted in 4 colors – Blue, Pink, White and Black Though I don’t have pictures of others but here’s attached the pink one!

Also it felt wonderful to be associated with a non-profit organization such as NACA. Yuthar Al Rawahy, the founder and President is a lovely human being.

And yes I also went for the walk. After seeing people – old, young, with kids, with dogs all in huge groups walking, it just felt good to be a part of it.

A glass pot with Oman Air logo engraved with special Omani Halwa packaged in the Oman Air colors – Turquoise, gold and silver. The gift will also have a tag in brief about the Omani Halwa in different languages.

The gifts will be given to the creme da la creme of each of the destinations where Oman Air will host a dinner.

The Pink Ribbon, the symbol for breast cancer awareness, was invented in 1991 by Evelyn H Lauder, founder & President of the Breast Cancer Research Foundation Alexandra Penney, then – editor of self Magazine. Lauder says, ‘’ The Ribbon stands for awareness. And it stands for the sisterhood that will help women service- and conquer – this disease”.

Well yes the breast cancer month is not anytime now but in October.

But a host of events from August to October could help in raising funds for the National Association of Cancer Awareness, Oman. I;ve been thinking of starting up a cause on facebook etc but i think its to early to do that now.

Below is the merchandise I have at the moment. Anybody can place an order from 1 piece to dozens if they would like to raise funds through dinner / tea parties. Or you could buy any merchandise just to stand by and support the cause.

10 % of the sales proceeds shall be donated to the NACA, Oman.

Furthermore we will also need a group of volunteers at fundraising events. I shall update furthermore on the volunteering after I have met Ms. Yuthar Al Rawahy from NACA, Oman. The funds raised will be used by NACA for cancer awareness and to spread awareness message of importance of early detection, diagnosis and cure. Alternatively also to to achieve other objectives such as provision of support centre for patients and their family, running a mobile one-stop unit for screening in the rural areas, developing comprehensive database on cancer in Oman and many other such initiatives.
